This function, which applies only to the Cart, enables you to create a discount policy of either a dollar or a percentage amount.
Make sure the shopping cart feature is activated in Application > Account > Features, then use the following steps to set up a policy:
- Access the Cart Discount Policy via Application > Financial > Cart Discount
- Name the discount policy.
- Add and name a discount rule.
- Choose to apply a dollar amount or percentage discount.
- Designate if the discount should apply only to the first registration that meets the minimum requirement, or to all subsequent registrations, e.g. third, fourth, fifth registrations, etc.
- Determine eligibility. Does the same person have to register for multiple classes to get the discount? Must more than one person in the cart group register for the same class? Or any combination?
- By default, all events in the cart will be eligible for the discount, however, you can restrict the discount policy to only those events in a particular category or set of categories.
- Once you have created the policy, apply it to the cart via the Cart configuration screen under Interface > Cart Setup then edit the cart settings for that particular cart.
You can create multiple policies, but only one discount policy at a time can be applied to one shopping cart. However, a policy can have more than one rule. For example, a policy could include a rule that a registrant gets $10 off if that same registrant signs up for a second class. The same policy could include a rule that a second registration, by another person, gets a $10 discount when it is for the same class.
Rule Types
You can set up rules that apply discounts based on the number of registrations, and/or based on dollar volume. A discount policy can have multiple rules, but only one of them can be based on volume. However, a rule can have multiple volume levels within a rule, such as for $500 total sales, $1,000, $2,000, etc.
Discounts only apply to the current cart. If the registrant checks out and returns, any discount requirements would have to be re-met.
