Response/error codes
Response error and response reason codes can tell you why a credit card transaction failed. See the details column in the Credit Card Transaction/eCheck Log in an event's reports under Financial. Your payment gateway provider can make available a list of these codes and their meanings.
Depending upon the payment gateway provider, if the registrant enters an invalid credit card number, an error message saying so will appear on the screen.
To protect against fraud, however, credit card companies prohibit Learning Stream from showing registrants many additional details.
Credit Card Transaction Log
Credit Card Detail in System Reports
Transaction logs for events tied to the Cart do not show cart payments because payments may be for more than one event. You can find such transactions, as well as any credit card transactions outside the cart, in the Financial > Credit Card Detail report in System Reports.
Cart: If a registrant goes through the Cart, the registration status will be "Pending Payment" once the registration form is submitted and while the cart still open. If the shopping cart expires (as specified in Setup > Advanced > Cart Setup), the pending registration status will be changed to "Incomplete", and all pending messages related to the registration will be removed.
For credit card transactions that are not tied to the Cart, the registration status will be listed as "Incomplete" if credit card information is not successfully submitted. If a person does not finish the process, no confirmation message will be delivered.
You will only see incomplete registrations if that option is activated in Event Setup > Advanced.
Security
Learning Stream employs Secure Socket Layer technology (128 bit SSL). SSL is the leading security protocol for data transfer on the Internet. Credit card numbers are processed securely and encrypted. They are not stored within Learning Stream. Collecting numbers via text fields on a registration form is prohibited.
